About Us
Welcome to Al-Noor Voluntary Aided Primary School!
Our school is a two form entry, co-gender, Muslim faith school which opened its doors to its first pupils on Tuesday 4th September 2018. It has begun with 120 pupils in four classes: two Reception classes and two Year One classes and will expand one year at a time, with the addition of two new Reception classes each subsequent year.
Al-Noor Voluntary Aided Primary School will be a strong and vibrant community God willing that will welcome admissions from Muslims and non-Muslims alike. The school is legally designated as having faith character and thus will have a nurturing Islamic ethos and values that are informed by Islamic teaching. All its stakeholders will work tirelessly together to build and strengthen the school to achieve the highest standards and to nurture great human beings through the unique environment and curriculum it offers that nurtures faith, emotional development and identity as much as the intellectual, physical social and cultural aspects of humanity.
We believe that children whose backgrounds, real life experiences, aspirations, identities, cultures, histories and beliefs are acknowledged as ‘normal’ and are welcomed and celebrated at school, thrive and achieve. Furthermore, children with sure identities make for strong and productive members of society.
The popularity of faith schools is not least due to the fact that discipline and behaviour in faith schools, on the whole, compares favourably with that in other schools. They are also best placed to develop ‘spirituality’ through their focus on the soul and ‘connecting’ with God, as much as their focus on the physical. Al-Noor Voluntary Aided Primary School's aims to nurture balanced individuals who have a keen sense of accountability to God and self-discipline, who have a deep sense of responsibility towards serving and strengthening society and communities.
Al-Noor Voluntary Aided Primary School believes that social cohesion and good citizenship are vitally important. We will work hard with local schools, agencies, local services, charities and community and faith organisations to ensure pupils develop into well-rounded individuals who are a part of society, working collectively with all others for the common good.
At Al-Noor Voluntary Aided Primary School life purpose, strong identity, self-awareness, responsibility, positive civic engagement, self-discipline and excellent character will be nurtured through its ethos and curriculum. We warmly welcome you and your child to be part of our school!
