Applications for Admission
Reception 2026 Admissions
Common Application Form
Applications for admission to Reception Year in September 2026 (known as admission “in the normal admission round”) must be made to the Local Authority by completing and submitting their Common Application Form (CAF) which is accessible via the Local Authority’s admissions page on its website. For Redbridge residents, this is at: https://www.redbridge.gov.uk/schools/. If you do not live in Redbridge, please refer to the school admissions website pages for the Local Authority where you reside.
Parents must ensure that they complete all parts of the CAF, to provide all the information requested in the CAF (for example, details of siblings) before it is submitted.
Supplementary Information Form
As set out in the school’s Admissions Policy, half of all available places are reserved for Muslim children and the other half are open to all children. Parents must complete a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) and submit it directly to the school by the prescribed deadline (below) if applying for a place reserved for Muslim pupils. This form is submitted, in addition to the Common Application Form (CAF), as set out above, and is available from the school website at:
https://www.al-noorprimary.org.uk/attachments/download.asp?file=983&type=pdf.
Please send completed Supplementary Information Forms to:
va.admissions@al-noorprimary.org.uk
Key dates
- 1 September 2025: Application window opens.
- 15 January 2026: Deadline for on-time applications.
- 16 April 2026: Offer letters are sent to parents.
- 30 April 2026: Deadline to accept the offer.
Late Applications
Applications received after 15th January, the application deadline set by the Local Authority (which also applies to Supplementary Information Forms), will result in the application being considered as a “late application”.
Your child will be placed on the waiting list. His/her position on the school waiting list could go up or down, as we receive new applications, depending on how it meets the oversubscription criteria. These are set out in the school’s Admission Policy at: https://www.al-noorprimary.org.uk/page/?title=Admissions&pid=34.
Waiting List
The names of all children who are unsuccessful in achieving a place in Reception year, will be automatically added to the waiting list for the first term of the academic year until 31st December. After that date, the children’s names will be removed, unless parents reapply in January, to remain on the waiting list for the rest of the academic year. This can be done by completing and submitting a new Common Application Form (CAF), in January, which is accessible via the Redbridge Local Authority’s admissions page on its website: www.redbridge.gov.uk/schools/school-admissions/change-your-childs-school/.
A new completed Supplementary Information Form (SIF) will also need to be submitted if applying under the faith category.
The waiting list is cleared again at the end of July and parents are required to reapply during the month of August each year to remain on the waiting list for consideration for the following academic year. A new In-Year SIF must also be completed with each application. SIF forms are available from the school website.
In-Year Admissions
This process applies if you make an application for a place at the school from January onwards of your child’s usual age-related Reception year (4-5 years of age).
Applications for in-year admission must be made to Redbridge Local Authority by completing and submitting their Common Application Form (CAF), which is accessible via the Redbridge Local Authority’s admissions page on its website at the following link: https://www.redbridge.gov.uk/schools/admissions-during-the-school-year/. If there are no places available in the appropriate year group when an application is received, the child’s name will be added to a waiting list.
All applicants for all in-year rounds must reapply during the month of August each year to remain on the waiting list for consideration for the following academic year. A new In-Year SIF must also be completed with each application. SIF forms are available at https://www.alnoorprimary.org.uk/attachments/download.asp?file=983&type=pdf..
Ensure all details you submit are truthful and verifiable.
Do not mix truth with falsehood or hide the truth knowingly. (Surat ul-Baqarah, 2:42)
Applications containing false information will be rejected. This also slows down the admissions process for everyone.
Redbridge Admissions department conducts home visits to verify the primary address provided on applications, especially for oversubscribed schools such as Al-Noor Primary. These visits are a way for the council to ensure the legitimacy of an application and help prevent the use of "addresses of convenience".
Every child is given a place in a school, even if your preferred schools cannot be offered.

Appeals for Primary School Admissions
Please read the following carefully before downloading and completing the appeal form
In Year Admission
If refused a place, the parent/carer has the right to appeal the decision.
If you wish to appeal, please click the appeal form below at the bottom of this section.
An appeal cannot be made because you do not want the school that you have been offered.
If you can show that there are exceptional reasons why you should be offered a place at your preferred school, then you can appeal. Everyone has the right of appeal, but it is only in exceptional circumstances that an appeal will be successful. For primary appeals, please first read the guidance below about infant class size appeals below.
Appeal panel hearings will take place within 30 school days of receipt of the appeal. Parents/carers will be notified of their appeal hearing date by the independent appeal panel clerk.
September 2026 Entry
This school appeal process is for children born between 1 September 2021 to 31 August 2022.
If you do not get the school you were hoping for on 16 April 2026, you can appeal online and upload your supporting documents to the online form.
Please first read the guidance below about infant class size appeals.

Infant Class Size Appeals
Before going through the appeal process and completing your appeal form, it is important to be aware of how the Appeal Panel reaches its decision on Infant class appeals.
Appeals for a place in most Infant classes can only be upheld in very limited circumstances.
The law requires that Infant classes (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) should not contain more than 30 pupils with a single teacher.
The grounds for allowing an Infant Class Size appeal are extremely limited and the success rate is very low.
By law, when considering an Infant Class Size appeal, the Appeal Panel can only consider three specific grounds if the class limit had already been met:
- Whether the admission arrangements complied with the mandatory requirements of the School Admission Code and Part 3 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998;
- Whether the admission arrangements were correctly and impartially applied in the case(s) in question; and
- Whether the decision to refuse admission was one which a reasonable admission authority would have made in the circumstances of the case.
An Appeal Panel can only uphold an Infant Class Size appeal where:
- It finds that the admission of additional children would not breach the infant class size limit; or
- it finds that the admission arrangements did not comply with admissions law or had not been correctly and impartially applied and the child would have been offered a place if the arrangements had complied or had been correctly and impartially applied: or
- it decides that the decision to refuse admission was not one which a reasonable authority would have made in the circumstances of the case.
Due to these legal limitations, an Appeal Panel cannot take into account your personal reasons for wanting a place at the school for your child, so you will need to be sure that your reasons for appealing fits these legal grounds.
It is also likely that an Appeal Panel would consider it reasonable for a child to be refused a place at their nearest school if other children had higher priority for the places available, even if this resulted in you being offered a school place some distance from your home.
Submit your appeal
Before appealing for a school, be sure that you have strong grounds for doing so. Whilst you may be initially disappointed at not being offered this particular school, remember that appeals are only successful in exceptional circumstances.
As the school is full, we cannot admit more pupils, as this would adversely affect resources and the education of other children at the school. The cost of every appeal must be paid for by the school, which puts further pressure on our available resources.
Redbridge has many good schools and the offer you have received may also be a suitable choice for your child.
Further information regarding appeals processes can be read here
APPEALS MUST BE SENT TO THE EMAIL ADDRESS AND NOT POSTAL ADDRESS ON THE FORM.
